Scottish Fold Cat
Scottish Fold cat was born in a litter in Scotland in 1961. A shepherd by the name of William Ross spotted the first known Scottish Fold cat at a farm near Coupar Angus in the Tayside Region of Scotland, Northwest of Dundee. Susie, the Fold's founding mother, was a farm cat born in Tayside. Two years later the mother cat, Susie gave birth to 2 kittens with folded ears. They named the kitten Snooks and all Scottish folds of today can trace their pedigrees to her.
The unique thing about this cats are their ears, which are folded forward and downward on their head that captured the hearts of many breeders. Scottish Fold kittens are born with straight ears. At about three to four weeks of age, their ears fold or they don’t. Due to the rarity of the Fold, and due to the fact that not every kitten born has folded ears, it is very hard for the supply to keep up with the demand.
