Gay Dog Denied Entry to Restaurant
A blind Australian man named Ian Jolly, was denied to enter in a restaurant after the staff misheard his female companion, and thought his "guide dog" was a "gay dog." The 57 year old man was attempting to dine at the Thai Spice restaurant in Adelaide, when he was refused entry, although the restaurant had a sign on the front door saying “guide dogs welcome”.
Ian was embarrassed about going to restaurants and sued the restaurant and won $1,500. His main purpose for following through with the suit was to guarantee proper service for other blind people, especially from restaurants advertising the acceptance of guide dogs. The restaurant has been forced to apologize and pay him $1500 was ordered by the Equal Opportunity Tribunal.
