Tortured Dog, Accused Denies Charges
Despite of being mistreat by it's owner, Lacey a seven pound mixed-terrier dog received an overwhelming donations from as far as the UK and Australia. The money will be used for Lacey's surgery and medication. The said dog was discovered tied to a tree in the yard. A veterinarian says the little dog was hit repeatedly in the mouth with a golf club, sprayed in the eyes and ears with bleach, and left untreated for up to four days.
Robert Gonzales, the dog's owner was accused of beating and burning his own dog. was arrested by the Bakersfield Police on three charges one for alleged animal abuse of a seven pound mixed terrier, two for felony charges for the possession of a controlled substance and three for the possession of a prohibited weapon and might face 18 months to three years behind bars if convicted. In an interview, the suspect denies the allegations and called those "false allegations" and asserted that he is being described as "a person that I am not." He said the dog, Lacey, was accidentally injured when she tipped over a bucket of bleach in his garage on Nov. 29. He also says that he never hit his dog and added that the accusations came from his next door neighbors, who happen to be the parents of his ex-girlfriend. A relationship, he says where there are a lot of unsettled issues, finger pointing and lies.
In the current case, the dog was taken to Coffee Road Animal Hospital for surgery on her left eye, which had ruptured, and her right ear, which had been burned. Kern County Animal Control has found a rescue home to care for Lacey, which will be her foster home. Lacey is slowly recovering and will undergo more surgeries ahead.
