Winner of the Ugly Dog Contest
Dog contest usually all about the beauty and good grooming a dog. But in San Diego California they acknowledge the most ugliest dog. The 15th annual "Ugly Dog Contest" held last Sunday in Del Mar, California. The Del Mar Kiwanis Club, founders and organizers of the 15-year-old event, gives them prizes, and proceeds from the party go to animals in need.
The winner of this contest is a seven-pound Chinese Crested named Rascal. Rascal's person is Dane Andrews of Sunnyvale, California. He's a toothless, hairless, bug-eyed dog. It was Rascal's first year in the competition. Rascal outdid four other unfortunate pooches, including last year’s winner, the swollen faced, slobbering Chomper, who took third. The Ugly Dog fest raised about $10,000 from ticket sales, entry fees, and donations. The event raises money for local animal charities. But not every dog was an "ugly" candidate. Other categories include cutest dog, best costume, and the dog who looks most like its owner. The contest was created not to have something to laugh, but to deliver message to everyone that whatever a dog looks like they should not left behind.
