Nature's Variety Pet food expand recall
Nature's Variety pet foods has announced an expansion because of the potential Salmonella bacteria contamination of their chicken pet food products. The company voluntarily expanded the recall as a precautionary measure. They are recalling all Chicken Formula and Organic Chicken Formula products with a "Best If Used By" date on or before 2/5/11.
The company recently issued a product recall on their Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diet with a "Best If Used By" date of 10/29/10 and their Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diet with a "Best If Used By" date of 11/9/10. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections for pets.
According the company website you can return the unopened product to the store from which you bought it for a refund or exchange. However, if your package has already been opened, you have to safely dispose the said products. You can then take your receipt (or the empty package in a sealed bag) to your local retailer for a refund or replacement.
